Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Gunther.
Hi Mary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! I’m Mary Gunther, the G, behind the Social G and Founder/CEO. Since I can remember, I have always had a passion for people, entrepreneurship, and small business development. My Grandma (my Mom’s Mom) was a business owner/entrepreneur in the 1960’s and 70’s, a very uncommon time for a woman to own a business, and I grew up heavily influenced by her stories of hiring a team of over 100 women, making deals with Ford Motor Company, and being an all around boss lady. (She also had 6 children she was raising!) Because of her influence, I always knew I wanted to start a business of my own, but just didn’t know what it would be until I founded The Social G Co. in 2023, which was something that brought together all of my skills, education, and career experience. Through The Social G Co., we are able to help business owners, companies, and brands not just by managing their content, but we decode the data, reflect their voice, and bring smart structure to their growth! Our goal is to make social media feel aligned, strategic, and human again – and stop the scroll!
More about me: I am a West Michigan native, proud Grand Valley State University alumni (B.A.), and I later went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development from Western Michigan University (M.A.) I have also had the pleasure and honor of being involved in some of the most exciting and impactful times in Grand Rapids’ history, having worked for the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority during the time it was rebranded to Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., and going on to work for the Grand Rapids Downtown Market where I was the Director of Human Resources and Operations and highly involved with the Market Hall tenants, the culinary program and incubator kitchen. These experiences grew my love for the West Michigan community immensely.
On a personal note, I have been married for 10 years to my husband Brandon and we have two children: William and Grace, aged 7 and 5. They are the #1 loves of my life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road of building a business is challenging and full of ups and downs. Like most business owners (who are also parents), I’ve had my fair share of struggles – from finding….. Continue Reading.
